Macbook Pro - What’s in a name?

Macbook Pro

So, Macworld Expo 2006 has been on for the whole of this week, and Apple have released information on their new Macbook Pro. But what’s so special about it.

A number of things which they are focusing on include the magnetic power cable, Intel Core Duo, improved speed and the vast increase in sheer ability from the Powerbook G4. Now we all want power, right?

Well, what if you purchase the notebook because you want to work whilst travelling. The power is great, but the three hours and three minutes of battery life probably won’t be what you’re looking for. Come on apple, sort out the battery life! I’m pretty sure people will find themselves lost without enough battery life, no wonder they spent so much energy on adding an emense amount of power to the beast!

I’m pretty impressed with the look of the Apple notebooks, and without a question of money i’d probably prefer to shell out for one over an iPod. Sleek and sexy and they beat off all the PC based competition. I don’t want a black shiny thing, i want a sleek and smooth silver desktop beauty to which i can lend my creative hands to.

There is a trade-off between functionality, battery life and size. Personally, to keep the power high, functionability high and the battery life longer than my arm, then is size going to have to be the one which loses out?

Optional battery packs, an increase in notebook size or an additional source of power is something which needs to be addressed here. C’mon Apple, keep the power, but give us some more juice!!
