The Art of Possibility

The Art of Possibility: Transforming Professional and Personal Life by Benjamin and Rosamund Stone Zander is the latest paper based factual adventure that I have partaken in. The reccomendation for this book came through Tom Kelley who mentioned one of the chapters within his book “The Art of Innovation.” After becoming intrigued within the type of ideas which were conveyed within the book I thought that i would actually purchase the book and start to learn the art of what is possible.

The book could strike some as a kind of self help or development title, but after reading through I think it’s more of an eye opener and mind opening book rather then one based around fulfilment of the measured self. The methods in the book aim to promote a positive approach towards possibility and turn away from the measurement and invented structure within which we live and grow up.

The book based around a number of ideas which the authors use in their teaching, communicating, everyday life and consulting. The ideas are based around creating possibility from and within every situation. Opening us all to possibility creates the sense that other, new and more possible things could happen. The examples within the books are superb at hitting the nail right on the head and the communication within the book really is top notch. The situations which are described genuinely communicate the feelings, emotion and pleasure behind what the words are explaining.

Some of the subjects within the book include “Rule Number 6,” “Giving an A,” “Being a Coontribution,” “It’s All Invented” and “Telling the WE Story,” amongst others. Each chapter focuses on one method of opening up more possibility and moving through the book is easy and the content within the book can actually be applied to real life almost immediately.

If you are wondering if you should read this book then my suggestion would be to take the chance and pick it up. The contents within this book are interesting and really help to think about every day life in a new way. Pretty much all of the ideas within this book can be directly be applied to situations we all come accross.

Go on, take a chance and see what’s possible!
