After applying to the Royal College of Art’s Industrial Design Engineering Masters Degree in January and an interview at the end of March, a letter arrived through the post on Tuesday of this week informing me that I will not be accepted to this years course admissions.
It’s unfortunate to recieve the letter after waiting so long. The course is one of the best in the country and you can see why. The course covers more than just Industrial Design Engineering and includes Marketing, Business, Design, Self-Promotion and many other aspects which I think are important to the design industry.
I am pretty dissapointed that I didn’t get in, but there is always next year and another year of industry experience to gain from whatever I decide to do. Unfortunately the informing letter did not come with any information as to why I was not accepted. Whether it was down to interview technique, portfolio standard, work experience, personality test results or even confidence on the day. All of these factors could have contributed.
So, moving forward, I will be concentrating on developing my technical and business knowledge as well as enjoying taking part within design discussions, reading, projects and getting involved with as many different opportunities as possible.
Watch out the RCA, I will be applying again!
