Alternating Seating Back

Change Seat 01

This may look like just a regular seat first of all but take a closer look. The back of the bench actually pivots on the underneath and moves from one side to the other.

I took this picture on the SS Great Britain in Bristol a few weeks ago and it strikes me as extreme genius. The people eating at the dinner table can move onto the other side of the bench seat once they have had their dinner and then check out what’s going on behind them. Perhaps a spot of dancing or chivalry?

It’s nice to see something on such an age old vessel which strikes a chord in my innovation sensor! It also reminds me of the small chair legs on the back of a chair in the home of Thomas Edison on the programme The Simpsons! Genius!

I love the bench - what fun and yet functional.

Cheers for the CD and good luck again with the course - keep in touch
